Festival Name: Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival Description: The Royal Canadian Mint is issuing a sterling silver 50-cent coin to celebrate the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival -- one of only 13 Canadian events to be so honoured. The 25th annual festival will be held in Bannerman Park in downtown St. John's. A family-oriented affair; 11:30 p.m. will see people from 5 to 85 dancing in front of the stage. Close to hotels and B-&-Bs, a short drive to Pippy Park trailer park and Memorial University, where residence rooms may be rented. Via Destination Canada has chosen this as THE festival to attend in Atlantic Canada, and it has for several years been listed among the 100 events promoted by the North American Bus Tour group.
